Count Lavalette, Director General of the Post under the restored Napoleon Bonaparte, was tried by the Court of Assize yesterday on a charge of high treason. He was found guilty and condemned to death. No date has been fixed for his execution.

Antoine Marie Chaman, comte de Lavalette, was ennobled in 1808. He is married to a niece of the late Empress Josephine.

It is reported that his wife has suffered a miscarriage caused by the shock of the sentence.
